I have had extreme testicular pain now off and on for over two decades. The urologist could find nothing after numerous tests and an ultra-sound. There was a hard lump in my scrotum, but it was benign. He sent me to a Family Practice Physician who was practicing acupuncture. I was hesitant, but agreed to go. Thank heaven no needles in my groin! After just 7 treatments, the pain went away. Seven years later it returned and three treatments later it was gone again. This time it lasted 5 or 6 years--the pain relief. Once again it returned and only two treatments has kept it away for almost a decade. Now it's back again and in full force. I no longer have the insurance to cover the cost and I moved to Colorado, so that doctor is no longer an option. I have had Fibromyalgia since 1985. I haven't been able to work for 8 years now. I do not yet have SSDI and I suspect that Medicare doesn't cover acupuncture anyway. I have access to traditional medicine because Colorado has health programs available. My new urologist wants to do an ultra-sound. I'm sure he'll find nothing, just as the first one did back in 1987. I anticipate all sorts of testing that will find nothing. But the pain is very real and sometimes debilitating. Just sitting can be quite painful and sometimes when the pain becomes acute, I shoot up off the chair, regardless of where I am because the pain is so immense. That behavior usually startles those around me.
The pain of the Fibro makes standing more than 30 minutes impossible. I take opioid medication for the Fibro; none of those medications come close to doing anything for the testicular pain. I've tried opioid strength NSAIDS, Tylenol, Aspirin to no avail. There's no way that my medical coverage will pay for acupuncture. Has anyone here ever had this experience or heard of anything like it? When I am sitting, the pain engrosses the entire groin area including the area above the pubic bone and it seems to hurt in my lower belly as well. The pain can occur when I am standing or lying down, but it usually only occurs when sitting or at least that's when it is at it's worst. Sometimes I can just be sitting with no pain at all and the suddenly it strikes! Stabbing pain followed by dull aching pain for hours on end. Standing up is the only thing that relieves the pain so far, just as it did in the 80's. It just doesn't work for very long. I just had a colonoscopy; it was normal. The lump that was in my scrotum back in the late 80's is difficult to find, but it is still there:a little softer and smaller. I'm sure that's why the urologist wants to do the ultra-sound. If anyone touches my testicles (or when they perform the ultra-sound) I am in screaming pain. It does not affect my ability to have sex or ejaculate. It does limit touching during sex though. If my partner touches my scrotum or anywhere around there, I am out of bed and on my feet in a split second! I also have Klinefelter's Syndrome, but no doc has found any connection to that. I am open to any ideas gentlemen. I eagerly await a response.
