Treatment for Male Yeast infection...

Hi guys, I'm new, so be gentle. Great forum- very helpful.

I've been suffering from what I suspect is a yeast infection for the past 3 or 4 days. I've advised my girlfriend go to the doctors and get prescribed something which is recommended by the doctor. I'd do the same, but I'm checking this route out first.

It first started in the classic way, you know- soft flaky skin on the glans of the penis, a build up of yeast-like material which came off when rubbed. I'd go out now and buy an anti fungal treatment, but I'm having extreme difficulty in retracting my foreskin to apply anything! It's cracking, as I've read and it's really going to be a struggle, it just seems so swollen. I'm more than happy to endure the pain to treat it if it means there' a realistic chance of it cleaning up.

Just thought I'd ask here first, and see what people can suggest.

(and to check that the tightening of the foreskin isn't a permanent measure!!!)

King regards and many thanks in advance,

N

Re: Treatment for Male Yeast infection...

I've gone to the Pharmacy today to ask what they could recommend and I was given a Thrush cream for external use only. There's no residue or anything inside the foreskin atop the glans now, and the only problem is that the foreskin is cracking as I try and pull it back.

I've necked about 2 litres of water today and will continue to do so for the next couple of weeks- water can only aid, I assume. I'm hoping this Thrush cream will get rid of whatever is tightening my foreskin as I'm now starting to get a little bit panicky that it's not going to be temporary

Can anyone shed some light on my situation? I'd really appreciate it as I've never had any health problems in that department,

Kind regards,

N

Re: Treatment for Male Yeast infection...

Without knowing the precise nature of the infection, it's impossible to know how to treat it. Your assumption that it is yeast is only a guess - it could be something quite different and by treating it randomly, you could be making the situation worse. One major feature of yeast infections is that they itch intensely. If it is yeast, the cream should make a big improvement within a couple of days; if not, you should get the advice of a doctor.
The swollen foreskin is a danger sign (phimosis) and needs proper treatment before it becomes too tight for you to even pee.

Re: Treatment for Male Yeast infection...

Thanks for your reply,

I see what you're saying- you're completely right too. I had only assumed it was a yeast infection as I had the symptoms of it, and although it itches sometimes, it's not too bad.

However, I started applying the cream last night. No improvement overnight, but I reapplied 3 times today and it's not sore any more, no residue and the foreskin is easily pulling back over the glans- so definitely an improvement. I'll continue using the cream for the mean time and if it's not improved further (though it's nearly back to normal) I will visit the GP.

Thank you very much,

N
