I have been using testosterone cream for about 8 months and I'm gaining weight around the mid section. I have never had an issue with weight, I've been able to eat anything in the past. I've added about 12 lbs in the past 3 or 4 months. Is the testoserone cream causing this?
Testosterone is a steroid and steroids often cause weight gain. Everyone reacts differently to specific dosages of a steroid. You may want to talk to your doctor about reducing the amount. Just be sure to talk to the doctor before you make any changes because altering levels can cause other issues like mood swings and depression. Ironically, a lack of testosterone can also cause weight gain.

Good luck to you.
Bob,
Thanks for the information, I saw my Dr. and he is going to do a blood test to check the levels.
I do not know a great deal about hormone levels but I can say that LH is probably low because your testosterone is high. LH tells the testicles to make testosterone. Since your level is high, your body is reducing the level of LH so the testicles slow down.
As to whether you need to reduce your level of testosterone, that is up to your doctor. It depends why you were given the cream to begin with. He may want your level high for a reason. If you do reduce it, it is generally good to do it gradually. It takes some time for your body to resume production. If the level drops rapidly, you will probably have some mood swings and will not be a nice person to be around.
Two questions for you - what is your age? and have you been exercising? If you are at an age where you would like to gain muscle, now is a good time to do it. With higher testosterone levels, it will be easier for you to gain muscle mass (of course that is assuming it is safe for you to exercise).

Dude, the low LH and FSH are an response of your pituitary to the exogenous testosterone. The gain weight however is likely due to estrogen. Testosterone can be converted into estrogen by an enzyme called aromatase. High dosages of T may cause high estrogen levels which counteract testosterone. You should check estradiol levels and maybe use an aromatase inhibitor.

My Doctor has lowered my dosage and I'm begining to feel a lot better. I am having another test the end of July to check the levels. I am 54 and do not excercise as much as I should; I only walk a mile a day. Thanks for the help
