Re: 24 year old male with ZERO sex drive and brain fog

Just wondering, did you ever try psychotherapy or psychoanalysis? Or even a sex therapist.

Maybe you should explore alternative medicine as well. Acupuncture, homeopathy, stuff like that.

I've recently read about an experimental drug called PT-141 which supposedly acts directly on libido. Maybe it'll do something for you. (Of course, it's experimental, so you should be cautious about it.)

Seeing a therapist and a psychiatrist was the first thing I did when I started having trouble. Their response was basically: this isn't a mental thing. Go get some bloodwork done.

And I've never heard of pt-141. I'll have to do some research. As far as alternative medicine goes, I'd really like to find the root cause of my problem rather than just treat the symptoms.

"My testosterone is frequently (but not always) relatively low, at around 170."

I read this. You should retest this, and post the ranges. Did they put you on testosterone replacement?

Re: 24 year old male with ZERO sex drive and brain fog

Hey discoflavor,

I am very curious to know if you ever found out the reason for your troubles, especially the brain fog and libido issues. I am going through the EXACT samething. Please tell me if you have found anything and if you have solved your problem. I do not know where else to turn. Please keep us updated.

Also, I am going through that same phase where you can see a goegeous women and not be remotely attracted or "stimulated". Sex or any sexual activity never runs through my head when cute girls are around. Its like my brain doesn't register gorgeous women and I don't respond with any attraction, but in reality I mentally am.

Best,

You've had many replies to your post already and mine may not make much of a difference but I'll post it just the same. Medical test are expensive and time consuming as well but they are necessary to find the problem. Doctor and the medical test that they use miss diagnose patients more times than we realize. sometimes, taking the test again catches the problem. On the first go round for what ever reason, the problem is not caught. It could be the fault of the doctor or equipment, or sometimes medicines that you are taking at the time of the test that gives a false reading on the test. Theres and old saying, when you try and don't succeed, try, try again. Go back and take these test all over again IF THIS IS POSSIBLE.. I noticed though your memory is short term, unless you are reading all of your simptoms from paper, you have a better memory than most of us to remember all the treatments and test you have had. I said all this just to say, go back to your doctors. Have these test ran over if you can. Too many people have found the problem on the second time around. Good luck! You are in our prayers for a speedy recovery!

Re: 24 year old male with ZERO sex drive and brain fog

Discoflavor. HRT is not something that should be taken lightly. There is a lot to that though. Your levels do seem definatively low though. I am sitting here looking at my situation unsure as to what I should do. My levels are not nearly as low as yours. I have been seeing numbers around 300 since I started testing them. It is hard because they use 2 different scales one says I am something like 15 the other 3 something. Looking online I have seen that in terms of numbers active healthy younger males should be around 6 or 7 hundred. I recently went to a new doc that specialises in sexual dysfunction issues. I have both low libido and erection issues. I basically have every low T symptom in the book. This doc told me that he has seen guys who have T levels of below 200 that are hornier than anyone. He said he doesn't put a lot of stock in the numbers but they are a clue. The data that is held regarding that is rather sketchy. A little research online totally reveals that they often base what is normal on what is normal for an 80 year old man who is dying of emphysema from smoking all of is life. I think it wise to do research to try to find why you might have low T. I see that you have virtually exhausted your own knowledge base in this and you don't seem to be getting any good suggestions from the medical community. Speak the words T injections and you are automatically "a Junkie" trust me I know. You are an American right? I am assuming you haven't had any significant trama to your testicles which would mean you have no reason to believe that they don't have impaired production. Have you tried Testosterone production boosters? There are some that are available at the health food stores which I found worked but marginally for me. (I have had significant trama so minimal function makes sense) Also there are drugs like HGC and Clomid which tell the body to boost production. The side effects are much less with these and I am told it is much easier to stop using them if you find you don't need them any longer. Ie. you find what is causing your problem. The problem with TRT is that your body completely stops making T and it never really bounces right back. I think you should at least try bringing your T up and see how you feel. There are many diseases that we don't know how to cure but can help the symptoms. I would that is better than sitting around waiting for a miracle. Just do what you do wisely. Doctors aren't stupid. Just a little mislead and pre-occupied sometimes.

Re: 24 year old male with ZERO sex drive and brain fog

I had almost similar and was diagnosed as secondary hypogonadism. I take HGC as a mono therapy (I hated the T injections with a passion, but can at least inject the HGC in the tummy). The post about the insulin resistance is spot on. Not the same as fasting blood sugar. Since I am on Metformin, I am gradually getting my drive and sexual ability back. I was super insulin resistant, and had low vitamin D levels. It is all inter-related, but I feel the source of my problem was the insulin resistance. The Metformin does take a few months before you get or feel the full benefit. Good luck.
