TURP (Transuretheral Resection Prostate) ?
Had the surgery one month ago this week. Had it not been for the catheter, and the after affects of the point of entry (penis), I wouldn't have known I had surgery at all. Be prepared for painful urination, however, for about (some people say one week), but I had it for two weeks. Make sure you ask your doctor for phenazopyrid (an analgesic for the penis) and they will probably give you Toviaz for bladder control. There is a stronger pain med called (i think) ubell, HOWEVER>>>>>>>>>>>>Medicare doesn't cover it and it was $201.00 for 30 pills. Needless to say, I went back to Phenazopyrid for $10.55. I was cancer free, but prostate very enlarged. I haven't been able to urinate like this since teenage years. DO NOT BE AFRAID. I went in at 1:00 p.m. supposed to be out by 2. Do what they say post-operative and you'll be back to normal in no time. hope this helps encourage someone. I'm 66..No health issues prior to this.
