Ok so i am going to try and be detailed here.
About 6 months ago i had unprotected sex with a somewhat stranger which also included oral sex. Ever since then my scrotum has been a reddish pink colour. It seems to get worse when i am hot or sweaty and also worse while wearing tighter underwear. It has been like this for 6 months which makes me think its some type of fungal or bacterial infection. I also have been reading about 'biofilm' infections and i think i could have that. I am just wondering if I should be worried about this being an STD? would any std cause a red scrotum for 6 months?
Yeast (fungal) infections will make the scrotum look very red, and heat/humidity make it worse. There is usually itching and irritation with that. If you have NO penile discharge or testicular pain, you could try an antifungal medication over the counter "for jock itch". I would recommend a spray or spray powder as creams are messy in hairy areas. I would dry thoroughly after showering and wear cotton boxers or loose underwear that gives your affected area air ventilation. Use the spray twice a day for 2 weeks or until all signs of redness are completely gone. If you have any discharge you need to get checked for an STD.
there is no discharge at all which is also why i am not worried about an std. A few months ago i was using a jock itch cream and it gave me relief at the time but never cured it completely. Are there any specific types you would recommend? I was also thinking rubbing alcohol every few days would kill any bacteria
Alcohol would burn like **** and just irritate it further. I would get a spray antifungal like Micatin or Lotrimin or Tinactin. A generic like store brand is fine as long as it says it is for candida albicans or jock itch (tinea crura). You probably didn't use the cream long enough, and if you stop using it before rash is completely gone it will come right back.
ok so i have been using the cream for 3 days now and it seems to be working however now the skin around the head of my penis is starting to get red and itchy.. could this have anything to do with the cream or does yeast look to spread to new areas because of the cream not allowing it to grow?
alright today is 1 week in. What should I expect at this time? scrotum is still red and irritates me but the irritation isnt as bad as last week however the redness seems to be still there and is worse at certain times. For instance yesterday was more of a light red and today its much darker.
