i hope someone here can offer some advice. i was born with an undescended testicle (right side) i believe at 18months i underwent an operation to bring it down, i have never had any issues with self confidence, i have two beautiful sons and a lovely wife. i realised a few years ago that the undescended testicle was significantly smaller than the other, i mean almost non existent but it is there and still very high up in the scrotum, recently after running i have been getting very painful throbbing in my groin area on the right side, emanating centrally (where my right testicle should be) in the groin and travelling up to both the pubic area and into my buttock. more recently when walking i have been getting a very sharp pain in my penis/scrotum (right side) that takes my breath away every time my right foot hits the ground! my question is this, could the fact that my undescended testicle has effectively shrivelled up yet remains inside me and the almost constant throbbing be cause for concern?
any advice would be greatly recieved
matthew.
"A very sharp pain in my penis/scrotum (right side) that takes my breath away" is definitely cause for concern. It could be a hernia -- but I am just speculating. A doctor will be able to give you definite answers, so make an appointment immediately.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I have observed that while I am off of work, and rather sedentary, I have no pain/throbbing, it would appear that my issues are related to activity. My job has me on my feet most of the day and in an effort to get fit I have begun walking the 30minutes to and from work. It's just strange that of all the places that could ache after a brisk walk or busy working day, my groin/scrotum would be it!! I guess I'm worried of the dreaded big C! As I approach 32 I've now had this Tiny testicle inside me all my life, I have read about the risks of testicular cancer being higher if an undescended testicle remains high in the scrotum/abdomen!! I am not really able to feel it so can't even check for lumps/abnormalities. I am your typical male who won't darken the door of my gp, particularly for sensitive issues unless I'm literally dying!
You will have to rise above the stereotype of the "typical male". Pain or aching in the groin/scrotum after exercise or other physical activity can be a sign of hernia. To discover what your body is telling you, and to rid yourself of the fear of cancer (which I really don't think you need to worry about at this stage), you should consult a doctor. Otherwise, your anxiety will only increase.
Problems like these are always exaggerated in our minds. I am sure you will find peace of mind by darkening that door. My best wishes.

To much activity alway agrivate existing problems. I have a varicosele vain in my left testes. It only give me problems when I stand to long/stay on my feet to much. At these times, a soak in tub of water and alcahol and some snug undershorts is the only thing that helps. My advise to you would be to cut back where you can, like walking to work as much as you would like to for the exercise. You are on your feet enough. Go see your doctor. It could be time to have the testicle removed. Try not to think the worse. In the mean time, cut back on your activities and see if that will help.
