I have a hard 1" line (little more than 1/16" in diameter) just under the skin of my penis located in the middle of the shaft towards the left side. Any thoughts on what this could be would be appreciated.
Someone named Nuttyhat described this on this forum last year, but there was no answer. Thanks again
A hard line? Is this line always hard or only hard during an erection? Could it just be a vein or lymph node?
I don't think this seems like the right shape for a Peyronie's-like plaque, but that would be my first guess otherwise, if it's basically like a scar down inside the penis. These are pretty common and harmless especially in younger men. They go away sometimes, but there's not really anything to do about them unless the condition becomes progressive and starts causing problems.
I've seen on bodybuilders' forums users saying they thought high zinc seemed to be related to developing it (speaking of their own cases). And I've heard elsewhere that a number of fibrotic disorders like Peyronie's might be more common when zinc is very high relative to manganese. But I don't know much about that. Seems like something to consider (especially if you take a zinc supplement).
How do I get a hold of a person who posted back in Sept 2011 (Nuttyhat), and has not posted since?
He had essentially the same issue I have. Thanks for the help.
Oh, I see he described his problem in some detail. I didn't think you were talking about hardening on the surface of the skin (for some reason), but that's what you mean, right? This problem sounds like it could be "lichen sclerosus" or "balanitis xerotica obliterans". Is the hardening on your foreskin or on shaft skin? (Or could it be your circumcision scar? Or on your scar?)
There are many potential causes of these skin hardening disorders. They seem to be more common in men with phimosis, so they could have something to do with yeast infection. If it could be yeast, I would drink unsweetened cranberry juice, avoid milk and cream, and see a doctor. A prescription anti-inflammatory cream or antifungal might be all it needs.
Oh, and it could just be psoriasis too, a benign skin condition (especially if it's flaky). But psoriasis might be something to do with yeast too. A doctor can tell you more after an exam.
It's just under the skin, the line is hard to the touch. No discoloration or pain, and the skin can be moved over it, and the line can be moved a little by my finger.
The skin surface is normal. Thanks again.
There's not any chance that you're asking about something that's supposed to be there, is there? Is it directly below your meatus? There's a line that's supposed to be there called the frenulum (if you didn't know).
Assuming that's not what you're asking about, is this line of skin hardness on the foreskin or shaft skin? Does it seem to be harder when you're erect? Or when it's damp or wet?
It's on the shaft about half way up tailing to the left side. It's like a piece of string (about 1" plus) was put just under the skin. there is no scars or deformity of the skin at all. Thank You again.
Not that, it's half way up starts near top of the shaft and vears to left side, about an inch and a quarter. Imagine a hard string put there just under the skin.
Told my G.P. about it over the phone but he was unsure. Going to see him Monday. Maybe also to see a Neuroligist. BTW Thank You for your time.

Wonderful! Whatever it is, you want a doctor to determine. I'm leaning toward psoriasis or lichen sclerosis for "my guesses", but let us know. It'd be nice if one of these threads about a mysterious white line actually had a real answer (for once).
Oh, lichen sclerosus (BXO) tends to develop around the circumference of the penis. I have never seen a photo of it in a line running up the length of the penis, so it doesn't sound as much like that since you've said that.
Did you find out what it was yet? An unusual looking nerve or blood vessel or something?
