Well, first of all, unfortunately doctors don't do sensitive DNA tests for the sexual skin viruses (HPV/warts, HSV/herpes, MC/warts, etc.), they just identify the sores visually, so it could be any of those, and you just hadn't been displaying any symptoms yet for the exam. Hopefully it's not that, but that is unfortunately entirely possible.
It might also be that the eczema and everything is all just due to a yeast infection of the skin there. There are a lot of simple things you can do to fight yeast. Or if it gets bad, doctors can prescribe strong antifungals (if they also think it could be yeast).
