Angry Panic isn't with you forever is it?

It's only been with me about three weeks now. It WILL go away right? Geesh, I hope so. Encouragment here I am getting back out, just NOT by myslef yet. I ALWAYS LOVED being by myslef. Shopping, beaching it, biking, tennis, painting, etc, etc. I was ALWAYS so independant. Loved my time by myself. LOVED IT!!!!!!! NOW...........I can't leave the house or BE in MY OWN darn house, BY MYSELF!!!!!!! This had BETTER pass. I can't have a babysitter at 29, 24/7. My fiance and life will start to go SOUTH

No It's not forever but it can come and go for many years if you don't get help. I highly recommend Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as it changed my life after years of panic, anxiety, depression and lots of meds. My favorite starter book on CBT is "Been There, Done That? Do This! by Sam ***** it's short and sweet and takes you through the whole process. Most people are cured in 12-weeks if they apply the tools. Good luck and keep your chin up!

Billy

I improved a lot from anxiety, panic and depression with a combination therapy. I was taking meds and undergoing CBT at the same time. As I made progress with CBT I started weaning myself off the medications. I believe that if I had started CBT right away I could have avoided the drugs completely, so try to get one of the books billy recommends and start following CBT on your own. There's also the moodgym site, it has basically the same type of exercises.

Panic is not forever and it can be overcome, but start doing something about it right now.

to LJ74

you need books on overcoming agoraphobia and panic disorder plus some valium type meds
the valium will allow you to get out and about and to start using the advice in the books

recovery is much easier now as your problems are much better understood
some docs now insist on an antidepressant and wont prescribe valium but IMO, valium is best to start with

I have to echo what Janik had to say and also mention that I was on meds when I started CBT too and share Janik's feeling that I may never have needed meds at all had I found CBT sooner. There's no time like the present to get over your panic

Take care!
