Does anybody know where I can buy that Sam Obitz book in the UK, Been there, done that, now do this? I can't seem to find it anywhere
I'm in the seventh week of a CBT program and they gave us Sam Obitz's book at the start and I realy like it a lot as I just re-read the book this past weekend and it was encouraging to see how my journey has a lot of paralells to what the author describes in his journey and gives me hope that if I keep working at it that I will get to where he is now to. My therapist said it was a new book when she gave it to us but it has a website that tells more about it and I believe you can even buy it directly from the website but I'd have to go back and check to be sure.
Yeah thanks - I've ordered the book now, turns out I couldn't find it cos you can only get it directly from the website
Glad you were able to get it. I'm in my 9th week now and I'm starting to feel a lot more comfortible using the tools and just started using the counter on what I am doing and it is surprisingly effective at lifting my mood when I use it and I've only been using it a week. The tea form is starting to be more comfortable to me too
Can someone elaborate on what this book is all about a little bit? In what ways does it try to help you fight social anxiety?
Hi Introvert and welcome to the boards
Now let me try and answer your question... It's a great introduction to the tools in CBT in a very simplified form. The author was a sufferer of panic, anxiety and depression before CBT cured him and it is written from a sufferers POV. The tools in the book when practiced and applied are the most effective treatments for anxiety of any kind. It's not specific to SAD but the tools it teaches are the same ones used to treat SAD minus the exposure exercises used in SAD. I hope this is helpful.
Take care and hope to see you here on the boards again
