As I was walking to college...

... I was feeling a bit anxious (as always). Then all of a sudden, somehitn happened. I felt very detached/fogy form the world. I BRAIN felt doomy/cloudy/dak^white colour. This is what I felt on my brain, not my vision. My heart started to beat fast, but, slow at the same time with a powereful, slow beat. My hands started to shake... I felt very detahced, and confused, balcked out in my brain... I even was going to stop a couple walking towards me to ask them to call me the anbulance, but I didn't, I phoned my Mum instead. On the phone, I couldn't make out what I wanted to say... was heard to say words... or to think. The whole thing lasted for about 5minutes.

What was that? It was very scary and with the thigns that's been happening to me lately, I'm gettig worried... it seems this thing is after me and getting stronger.

Re: As I was walking to college...

Oh, and before this happened, left half of my head and neck muscles felt very tense, hard... maybe that was something to do with what happened to day later?

Re: As I was walking to college...

Sounds like depersonalization. I used to have it. Once you get accustomed to it you'll be able to snap yourself out of it when you feel it coming on. Depersonalization isn't always due to anxiety, but it is most of the time. It can be caused by fatigue and concentrating "too hard".

Re: As I was walking to college...

Hi,
I agree with Spreeville. It definitely doesn't sound like it was any kind of medical emergency, but depersonalization. It is VERY common with anxiety, and yes, it's scary, but it isn't harmful and does go away. I get it all the time, and now that I know what it is and now that I'm kind of used to it, I suppose, I can, as Spreeville said, snap myself out of it, too. It just takes a little practice. Hopefully though, in your case, it won't happen to you often enough to have to get used to it! Maybe it will never even happen again! Anyway, sit down and try to take some deep, slow breaths when that happens, and you'll be fine, just tell yourself that it is depersonalization and that it WILL go away very shortly, and there is nothing to be worried about.

Re: As I was walking to college...

Right, back from my GP. I told her what happened and she said, it sounds like it's anxiety. I don't think it could be a stroke or migrane or anything like this because it wouldn't just come and then you getter better after 15 minutes. She said it's anxiety. She's refered me to CBT now, gotto wait a few months though. She said, if/when it happens again, I should call the ambulance or go to the emergency myself, so they could see me WHILE that thing is happening to me.

But yes, she says it's anxiety.

Scary thing. I've had it for over a year and my symptoms vary. Sometimes it's so scary it feels like I have something wrong with my brain.

Thank you for your input everyone!

I feel better now. I must admit that, before I went to see her, I was afraid to go out by myself and felt faint and very anxious, but as soon as I left the office, I felt much better. I felt healthy!

Hope CBT will help me .

Thank you and keep safe everyone! Do reply if you have anything to add
