I suffer from anxiety/panic and depression and have been on meds for most of the past 10 years. I have tried many, mixing up cocktails although admittedly starting new meds makes me quite anxious.

A few months ago, I was taking Lithium 750 mg (to level moods), Lexapro 10 mg and some Klonopin at night. We added Wellbutrin XL 150 mg because the current meds were dragging me down, making me very tired and hence not so happy. At that time, I loved the Wellbutrin and the positive side affects such as loss of appetite and more energy during the day. However, I had one unbearable side affect that affected my ability to work - it blurred my vision. So I reluctantly went off Wellbutrin.

A few weeks ago I took myself off Lexapro with no withdrawal (makes you wonder what, if anything, it was doing for me). So far so good. So after speaking with my pharmacist and dr. I decided to give Wellbutrin another try (side affects are sometimes a result of a mixture of meds and may change when you change the cocktail - how they interact together). I started Wellbutrin XL 6 days ago and counting.

Well... this time has not been so easy and I am not sure I should hang in there (or can). Does anyone have any advise on how long I should give the medication a try before claiming its not right for me and giving up? I know it can take a few weeks but in my experience, the ramp-up time/side affects has typically not been difficult since I have always been on other meds at the same time.

This time I am jumping out of my skin. I suffer from anxiety to begin so that is not a good side affect. I am in horrible bad moods, treating people badly/snapping at them, terrible headaches that Tylenol won't help, shaking, having trouble speaking/feel like I am gonna choke on my tongue, I am unfocused at work and in conversation jumping all over the place. It is obvious to people around me that something isn't right. Plus I do not even have the positive side affects I did the first time.

My doctor is on vacation for 2 more weeks. I know she trusts me to take myself off the meds if they arent working for me. I am just not sure how long I should give it a chance. What has been other people's experience? Has anyone felt like this on this med and did it change over time?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
