strepp,sudden onset of OCD and hallucinations in a 7 year old - Mental Health Message Board

My little cousin had strep throat and then one morning she woke up and my aunty said she just wasnt herself anymore,she complains of seeing dead people that want to hurt her and shes afraid of them.I read about strep and ocd and I found out that strep can cause ocd,especially in younger kids.She is under the best medical care in the world (literally) and the only thing I couldnt find out about the strep and ocd is what will become of my little cousin.They say that the strep went to her brain abd that she was seeing dead people but I didnt find anything on hallucinations due to this condition.

Does anyone know anything about this? She has the best doctors with her but my aunty and uncle dont know whats going to happen?

Will she get over this or will she see dead people forever?

Yes, for some reason the two are related, but I've never heard of a case where it came on so suddenly.
Question, when she said she's seeing dead people, was she still sick at the time?

I have read about this. It is one of the first cases that show that a bacterial infection can cause mental illness. It has been theorized before - but this is proof.
If she is literally getting the best medical care in the world then she is lucky. Perhaps the doctors will put the little girl on a pedicatric dose of antipscyhotics for the hallucinations. About seeing dead people - there is a possiblity that she is psychic. She will need a lot of reassurance.
