I think my friend is having panic attacks - Mental Health Message Board

I myself, have panic attacks. I'm on 50mg of Zoloft a day. But anyway, my boyfriend's brother-in-law ever so often will say he's experiencing deja vu. He says "I swear I've been here before, and I've seen this happen before." He said when it happens to him, he gets all sweaty. If he thinks about it too much, he will start to get light headed and said he's even passed out before. Does this sound like a symptom of panic attacks or anxiety to you? I've never experienced this, but the sweating and lightheaded part sounds like anxiety to me.

This is a board I haven't posted on before, hope I can be of help.

I agree with you it sounds like anxiety, the feeling of being somewhere before is so weird and will lead to racing heart and sweating. I personally, like you, have panic attacks that completely take over, and as you say this doesn't seem like a panic attack. It's no less frightening though for him, see if he can talk about his feeling, that might calm him a little.

It does sound like anxioty/panic attacks... just wondering does he smoke marijuana at all? or take other illicit drugs?

just asking cause i had anxioty attacks about 4 months ago and started smoking a heavy amount of marijuana. I started getting deja vue all the time!!! plus it was kinda freaky at times i would always think about it.

anyways... getting to the point , anxioty and drugs dont mix very well.
