Well, could you just elaborate on the bizarre thoughts you're having, so I can see if they are indicative of OCD? Don't feel embarrassed- I've had all of the worst, disgusting ones like sexual, blasphemous, and violent obsessions, the ones that are the hardest to tell people about. You've said you've read about Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: I'm assuming that you suspect you have it? At any rate, you should go to a psychiatrist to get a thorough diagnostic evaluation, and if he/she does think you have OCD, then you can start treatment. I'm currently on 250 mg of Zoloft, and it isn't working, so I'm getting an appointment set up with the college psychiatrist; I'm also starting weekly Cognitive Behaviorial Therapy (CBT) sessions in two weeks. There're are two basic treatments for OCD: medication/natural supplements to fix the biochemical imbalances in the brain and CBT. Some common natural/holistic methods are taking amino acids like Omega-3 fatty acids, which seem to boost the amount of serotonin in the brain, 5-hydroxy (can't remember the rest)- the chemical name for serotonin, glutamate, an excitatory neurotransmitter that relases other neurotransmitters, and eating more tryptophan, which is found in complex carbs, and is the precursor molecule that is used to form serotonin after it crosses the blood-brain barrier.
