please does someone else get this

i get cravings for attention and allways want to be rescued by a lifeguard or doctor or someone in medical professions. i want sympathy and allways like to feel im in the patient seat when i go anywhere, i liked to be cared after and looked after. it affects what i watch on tv as i like to see females being cared for and looked after and wish i was in their position.

am i normal? are these over exaggerated fantasies? pls help as i can't confide in friends they think im a freak

Hmm.. i would imagine that more traditional psychoanalysis might be better for you actually. There is a reason why you feel this need to be rescued and looked after. Maybe your sense of security was suddenly taken away when you were younger? maybe you werent taught how to rely on yourself and stand on your own two feet? i don't know but if you dont deal with it it could lead to problems in relationships so its worth at least investigating a bit more with a therapist.

Re: please does someone else get this

u r not alone i and know of others who have had simialr experiences, the need to be drawn towards people of authority is a need to be taken care of unconditionaly it was v brave of u to write nurses etc have a job to care and wil thats why psyatric hosp can be so appealing being cared for when at times we cant ourseves, i think it links to difficulty in independance and responsibilty it could also be part of yr past did u relate well to yr mum maybe u r being drawn to go back to that female would explain this need to mayb have a mum u may have one but does she show u her care/love or have profeessionals replaced this dont lose hope another thing is we can ofterb get drawed to somehing we can see in others which u cant give ur self maybe start by looking at what needs u have it may spur on incentive to know where to start we all need help at times and roles of nurses ec r safe figures to like
take care

I think strongernow is onto something with the cbt recommendation. It will build your self-esteem and help you see things more clearly. My problems were more anxiety and depression related than yours but I still do the tea form exercise all the time and it has helped me immensely.

Hi Natalies,

I am not a Counselor, but I have read alot about Mental Illnesses. I have a Mental problem myself. Anyway I think that you might have Munchousens Sydrome. I have read about that, I could be wrong, but that's what I think.

Are you on medication for this? Are you seeing a Psychiatrist? I was just wondering. I really hope that you will get the help that you need.

Please keep me posted on how you are doing. I want to know okay?
