Question Why am I seeing things??

Okay, for like a week I have been seeing bugs, they either are crawling on me or to me, or around me, I thought it was a new medication I was taking so I stopped taking it 3 days ago, but it has now gotten wrose, I have started to see them under my skin, and I can even feel them in there if I stick my hand on top, I even had to ask my friend at work if there really was something there, he said there wasnt, I made me touch my arm where it was to see if he could feel anything he couldnt, I had to go into the bathroom, and convence myself that there was nothing there, it was really bad, I am just not sure what is going on, I called the hospital but all they said was to come in, I asked what would happen then, she said Oh we will just see what is going on, I am very afraid of being commeted, (life long fear since my mom told me she would cause I was a cutter), if you may know why, please let me know, thanks

Re: Why am I seeing things??

Hi I hope you are dong better since your last post....This sounds like a very scarey thing to happen...have you called your doctor that prescribed your medication??? If you can't get in to see him soon then possibly it would be good to get to the hospital...you know if it gets so out of control that you can't handle it anymore...Were you doing this before the med? if it just started afterwards, my guess would be it is the medication...3 days may not be long enough for your body to adjust being back off of it...drink LOTS AND LOTS of liguids to flush your system out....Hang in there...you'll be in my thoughts....

Re: Why am I seeing things??

There are many things that might cause a hallucination of this kind. You have not really said emotionally or mentally if there are other things going on. So it is hard to say what might it be. Going to the psych ward if it were to come to that is not the prison sentence or execution chamber that many fear it to be. They help you get stable in a calm, less stressful atmosphere and if meds are needed they provide them. If anything it might be about the most boring type place to go to depending on where you go. First you need to take care of you and get you to a better place. Afterall this might not be a mental illness at all but something being caused by a physical illness of some type.

Re: Why am I seeing things??

I have severe major depressive disorder with psycotic features. In other words I am really depressed and I see and hear things that are not there. What I know is certain medication can cause them, how much sleep you have been getting and what you have beenn eating. I see bugs, funny shapes running across the, shadows popping out of nowhere and I sense there are people there when there is not. Hopefully yours will go away soon

take care

Re: Why am I seeing things??

Hmmm...I am bipolar and do see or hear things that aren't there as well. I wanted to say or was trying to say something more then the usual just smile and it will be ok kind of thing. I know what i go through won't go away and often it is heart stopping it happens for me rather suddenly and often without notice. (Wouldn't it be nice if it warned you it was about to happen? lol) I have the problem that I would rather save the world then myself. Not sure why that is or how it got started but it did. If you need to go to the hospital then by all means do so. I was also trying to say that they really are not the worst places in the world and they can do a lot of good also. I guess in the end result is all up to us and how much we want something better then what we currently go through. Take care of you and I hope things get better very soon.
