Help Please.... - Mental Health Message Board

I would say for about the last month I have been loosing a lot of sleep. For some reason when I lay down to go to sleep my mind starts racing and it is nothing but bad thoughts. It started off with me dying. Every night I would be scared to death because I kept thinking I wouldn't be waking up. Now It has traveled to other thoughts. Now it is thoughts of other people dying. People I love. I will just sit there and pretty much end up crying untill I go to sleep. By the time I get to sleep it is already half way through the night or already time to wake up. I try to think of positive things but then it lasts for about 30 sec and then it switches to something horrible. How can I stop these thoughts from happening? I want to get some sleep!!!!

HI. don't know if this will be of any help to you or not, but I can certainly empathize with a lack of sleep, have you been to your family doctor to discuss this situation with him?? And if not I think that's the first place you should go...and if you don't get the answers your looking for there is always the chance to get a second opinion..but like I said I would start off with the family doctor first and take it from there...I hope this helps you a bit...sweetchantilly...

What happened a month ago that started this? It sounds like an unresolved emotional issue.

I too was going to post this same problem. I think I fit into alot of posts and begin to feel a bit paranoid commenting in the odd one! Anyway..every single night I cannot go to sleep straight away because I feel I might die. Sometimes I get a massage at night to help ease me into sleep and it helps. Other nights I put off going to bed because I know I am going to start thinking about "what if" i die. In a previous post I stated how I should find out why I am so frightened of death and then I wouldnt be so scared..I dont know. My family knows but think I am being silly. But to me its the dread of night fall and I also hate it when I wake to use bathroom or just wake up suddenly because then it starts off again. Being the only one awake at night is also a problem because I think I have woken up for some reason and perhaps it was to die! Oh its neverending.Yet I function well as a person even with my anxieties. As those of you with anxiety would well understand what I mean? I hope? lol.Arghh..Maybe someone can relate?

Death and Taxes. Unavoidable. But why think it will happen right now, or that everyone you know won't live intil they are a ripe old age? Healthy lifestyle, medical advances, etc. give us all good odds. But IMHO, I'm hoping when I go from this earth, it IS in my sleep...seems it would be less tramatic than a car wreck or heart attack, eh?

Life in general sucks, but then again , it's all in how you look at it. In other words, why borrow trouble? Be grateful you don't have it like some others do.
