Hello.

I'm a 39 year old female (married with two children) who was diagnosed a few years back with chronic depression and PTSD.

After years of medication and sporadic sub-par therapy, I've been struggling with trying to sort things out myself.

While some may say that's not the wisest thing (much like the accused representing him/herself in a court of law) I feel it is the best thing for me.

I won't bore you with specifics at this time, just know that as an adult I find myself advocating for children who live in abusive and neglectful situations because I feel a sort of kinship with them.

I work at a school as a para educator with at risk youth with everything from learning disabilities to severe physical and sometimes behavioral anomalies. I also volunteer at the local CASA representing children's needs in a court of law when a "child in need of care" case is presented before the judge.

Having two children of my own - one of which was Dx'd with ADHD a few years ago, has prompted me to enter the field of special education. I'm not perfect, but I'm slowly coming around to the realization that nobody is.

I have a pretty good sense of humor and I have a tight, very small group of friends. I don't like big crowds and when I look in the mirror I often wonder who it is staring back at me... and if the person everyone else sees.. is indeed, me.

Regardless, I am glad I clicked the link from a friends blog because this looks to be a good place to talk with others and share common experiences and gain/give support.
