I hope this is the correct place to post this particular problem – please move it if required

OK, the basic problem I have is that I can go into, what I assume is, a mild form of shock on various occasions. Examples that have actually happened over the years are:
-Cutting a finger with a knife
-Having my other half put sun cream on my back after getting mild sunburn on holiday
-Finding a lump on my body and then my mind races in thinking what it is (even though it turned out to be nothing).
-When I had my BCG when I was at school.
-Watching medial programmes on TV.

When the above happens (but strangely not every time), the shock usually takes the form of feeling slightly sick, light headed/feeling that I am going to faint (but have never done so), small amount of shaking, cold sweat. According to my mum and dad, I have always had this problem – even before I can remember, which is why I think is more mental than anything else.

Up to now (touch wood), I have never had anything really wrong with me (I am 29). I’ve Never had an injection at the dentist or doctors etc (other than my BCG at school), nothing broken etc. This may be one of the reasons why I have this 'condition'!

I say up to now, as recently I have started to have Ectopic heartbeats which I have gone to the doctor about. He has asked me to have my first blood test. I am pretty sure when I go for the blood test on Thursday I will experience this shock (probably because I will be thinking about it as well).

When explaining this to anyone, all they say is, typical man can't cope with medical stuff. To a certain extent, this is true, but I this condition goes further than that!

How common is this? Is there anything I can do to combat it?
