is anyone here afraid of using public toilet? - Mental Health Message Board

i am. i think it is called parcopresis. i dont have social phobia, dont have ibs and it started for no reason. it started when i was 11 but it worsened this year and i'm now **. although i dont know the cause, parcopresis is the closest thing i can find.
since late june this year, i cant go to school without crying/tantrums/having an arguement with my mum at least twice a week in the morning. i told her about my fears just last friday (including emetophobia) and i dont know if it's a good thing or a bad thing. she is getting really fed up of me and my complaints.
i get this swirling sensation in my intestines out of the blue and sometimes the feeling can get really strong. it can also be described as warm water moving in the intestines, like it is moving everywhere(?). whenever this happens, regardless of its intesity, i'll always worry that i might get diarrhea and get panicky. it doesnt lead to diarrhea though, at least last time it didnt (that was about 2 weeks ago and it lasted for 3 days).

i really feel like you need to talk to a therapist. you sound like you have alot of bottled up anxiety. try to get help. good luck

Hi there

Thanks for that Question, I have the same problem, need to use a catheter at times or just go in private(disabled toilet) at times I have the hearing aids turned off.

The name for this condition I have is Paruresis(Not Able to pee in public loos where there people near by) that is what I have.

As for the doing no 2 (Dump) in public toilets. Again I can do this at home or a disabled toilet only just I wont go anywhere, probley my mum told me off for making mess in the bowl of the toilet and I seem to find it disrespectful for doing such thing away from home or a disabled toilet. When I am out unless I have diarreha as found out at work one time where I had to use disabled toilet for it then get to hotel and do it there after 1/2 on bus and home, I dont seem to feel the need to go until I get home then its matter of get on the toilet and do no 2.

I end up often reading letters on the toilet.
