Thyroid Problems? - Mental Health Message Board

OK, I have gained a lot of weight in the past year from antidepressants. I have been off of them for 6 months and am still not able to lose the weight. Is it possible that they have caused a thyroid problem? Can you have thyroid problems without having all of the symptoms? I have looked up hypothyroidism, but I'm not sure if I have that. It's the only thing I can think of because I am dieting and exercising and still can't lose the weight. I posted in the thyroid section too, but thought people who have taken these drugs may be able to help.

Go to your dr. and get a blood test. This will ease your concerns.

Yea, you really have to go get a thyroid test. That's the only way to really know. They probably will check your TSH level. Every time I looked up stuff, I found myself believing that I had everything I read.

Please look at my info posted 9-18-03. There's a wealth of information regarding your thyroid when you do the recommended search on google. Add Thyroid on this search and you'll be amazed at what pops up.

This is radical therapy, but it's worked for so many poeple that it can't be wrong. Anti-depressants are a crutch for our society, and everything you need to heel yourself could be natural. I'm not discounting your issues, but there may be better alternatives. Hope this helps.
