Do not take risperdal. There are too many dangerous side effects to risperdal, tremors that can development into motor disfigurement, sexual dysfunction, insomnia, constipation, renal shutdown, death. Contact the National Mental Health Institue concerning the adverse affects of risperdal. They are only now conducting studies on children and risperdal--do you want your child to be a fatal guinea pig? Risperdal is not to be prescribed for anyone under 18. They gave my son risperdal at 13 and I was very naive. I have since done the research. On May 26, 2000, a Philadelphia court awarded $6.7 millon to a platient afflicted with a severe motor disorder because of taking risperdal for only 14 months.

what a terrible thing. they do need to start warning people about these things. i think it should go along side the advertisments they give. the doctors thing they are trying to help millions but they do not think about the few they are destroying in the process
In addition, it caused my heart to go into fibrilation and increased the beats by over 500 per minute! It was by far, the WORST med I was on, and I wasnt on it that long either!

I have often discussed the side effects with my dr, but he says my condition is too seious to go untreated...even though the side effects are hideous. <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif">
I was on Risperal 0.5 mg. but I had to stop it last month because it caused me to lacate (produce milk from my breasts when i wasn't pregnant.) It is still causing me problems with this over a month later. I wish my psychiatrist would have told me this when she gave it to me.
There are nutritional supplements which can heal the body, including the mind. Protein drinks, deep water fish oil ( salmon, cod liver oil) are excellent sources of nutrition for the brain. If you feel you must take a psychotropic medication, please look into feeding the brain so that it can heal itself. The brain needs good fat (good quality fish oil) and protein (the best is in the form of powder protein that can be added to water or liquid). YOu can find all of these in health food stores and on the internet. I find an excellent quality of both. Try to find the protein powder without sugar. Sugar is toxic to the body, especially the brain. It is a slow acting toxin, but a toxin nonetheless.
