Re: I dont like my anixety
I don't like my anxiety either but I love my medication. Alot of people don't like the idea of taking medication for anxiety. What I don't understand is that we take an asprin for a headache etc but have trouble with taking antidepressants. There are a few myths out there about antidepressants. One thing to think about with all medications is whether the outcome of taking the medication is more beneficial than the outcome of not taking it. One myth is that it is addictive, SSRI medication is not addictive, although if you want to stop taking it you do need to slowly reduce off it with doctor supervision. Benzodiazepines such as Xanax and Valium are definately addictive and should only be taken in extreme circumstances.
Another thing that most people don't like about antidepressants is that they make you feel really funny for about 2 weeks when you first start to take them. The funny feelings go away though and don't last forever.
Everybody is different and it may be the case that you may prefer more natural therapies. Have you tried cognitive behavioural therapy with a psychologist?
As a person who has suffered generalised anxiety disorder for over 10 years I couldn't survive without my medication. I actually feel normal and I love it.
I hope that you find a treatment that works for you.
