difficult time staying in a positive mood

I have a difficult time staying in a positive mood. I have been home raising 2 difficult boys for many years. The oldest has moved away and doesn't want much if anything to do with the family. This is always somewhere lurking in my mind. My youngest is disabled but at 19 is doing much better. I am alone alot, trying to find suitable volunteer positions but I do get stuck and find I just stay in the house. I know I need to get out, but can't seem to do it. I have lots of chronic pain problems (fibromyalgia, migraines, arthritis etc.) I can't walk very far without foot pain, so have gained some weight. Just feel like a blob. Linda

Re: ljsf

Hello Linda,

I can relate to some of your troubles like not being able to keep a positive mood, being alone for most of the time and feeling like a blob. I'm going to be talking to my therapist about this tomorrow but I'll share what has partially been working for me.

In regards to getting out of the house maybe a good first step would be to spend some time outside to get some fresh air and a change in scenery? And is there anything you can do around the house so you'll feel more productive and less like a blob?

Re: ljsf

THanks for replying. I do keep myself busy at home. I bake and cook and sew. Always been a real homebody. I try to get out in the garden, but can't do what I used to do due to my foot. But it's better than it's been. I thinks it's more the stuff on my brain, dissapointments etc that keep me down. Good luck, Linda
