Aspartame?? - Military Health Issues Message Board

Hey, I was just messing around online, and I read all this stuff about aspartame (Nutrasweet) causing GWS. They said that there was all kinds of diet soda that sat out in the hot sun and when the soldiers drank it, they got aspartame disease. I guess they say that when exposed to high temperatures aspartame releases some deadly chemical...I don't know, I just wondered what you all thought about that. It sounds kind of far-fetched to me, but them, I've always been a skeptic. Anyway, let me know what you think!

Hey,you're still out there....I've read the same stuff recently. I am not a GWV, but I have diabetes, so was pretty interested. Since reading all the info, I've stopped drinking diet coke and eating anything with aspartame or any other artificial sweetner in it. I can't say that I feel any different, but who knows. I'll have to give it a few months to really tell.

OK, did some more reading on another message board. Apparently this information came from a hoax email that's been going around since 1995! Yet a few people that I talked to believe it. I don't know which end is up anymore.
