Recurrent miscarriage

Anyone else out there have this (three or more in a row)? I just had my third miscarriage in 5 months and my doctor isn't concerned and doesn't want to see me until I have my period. I'm not sure why he wants me to wait.

Did anyone else have any testing done after their miscarriages (other than HCG and blood counts)?

This is my fifth loss total (I had two previous losses) and I can't understand why my doctor isn't alarmed.

He has never had me send anything to pathology before either (I saved everything I passed).

I have always had normal predictable 35 day cycles but now I bleed from day one of my period until I ovulate (21 days out of every cycle). I also bleed heavier with activity and sex but my doctor said not to do anything different .

I am 28 years old and have had healthy pregnancies previously. Suddenly I'm unable to maintain a pregnancy and my doctors aren't concerned (I have four doctors due to an ongoing undiagnosed medical condition).

If anyone can help me understand this I'd appreciate it.

Love and Prayers, Kelly

i've never had this but i've heard of people who have, and their doctors have all run multiple tests to find out what it is. the chances that this is all coincidental are rare. it could be something simple. one person was smart enough to make her doctor test her after the second m/c, and guess what it was? a simple lack of folic acid. she had to have a special diet for two months prior to conception, and bingo. another was a progesterone deficiency. all very simple things to fix, but w/out tests, you'll never know.

i think your doctor should be concerned. if he has reason to believe that there's nothing wrong, he should share this w/ you. if he is simply being dispassionate and inconsiderate, get a new doctor, and do it asap.

good luck, kelly.

Re: Recurrent miscarriage

After I had my miscarriage I asked my doctor, what are the chances of me having another miscarriage, he said the same as anyone else on the street. Then he said but, if you have 3 or more in a row it is cause for concern and that we will need to run test. So the whole point I am trying to get at is that I am sure any other doctor would have test run on you at this point. If I were you I would change doctors as soon as you can, get into another doctors office. Why keep putting yourself through the heart break of a miscarriage if you do not have to, if it is something easy to solve and your doctor is just looking it over.

Re: Recurrent miscarriage

I've been calling around but am having a hard time finding anyone that will see me. They want to wait until I have my first period. Does anyone have any idea what the reasoning behind this is?

I have requested a clotting panel, hormone testing and a referral to an endocrinologist. All of which has been denied. Each doctor tells me to have the other doctor do the tests. When I inform them that's what the other doctor said they schedule me for a consultation. I have one on Friday with my PCP and am supposed to schedule one with the OB "when I start my period".

These appointments are specifically to talk about "what I expect to be done". Sheesh, I'M not the doctor, THEY are .

I am in the process of switching to a different PCP (I never see the doctor, only the PA and am growing tired of suboptimal care). It's such a pain to start all over but I can't keep losing babies.

Thank you for your encouragment. I do appreciate it! I desperately want to become pregnant in August (May baby) and am hoping to get this resolved soon.

Love and Prayers, Kelly
