A D&C is dilation and curettage of the uterus. Basically it is removing the embryo/fetus from the uterus after a miscarriage or can be done to terminate a pregnancy.

There are many factors for timing of pregnancy after a D&C - complications, if further testing is suggested and most importantly, the emotional readiness of the couple trying to conceive.
