Don't know what to expect!

I am pretty sure I have miscarried. I started bleeding around 5 1/2 weeks. It was lighter than a period, but definitely not spotting. I didn't have any pain or pass any tissue. I passed mostly small clots and one big one (about the size of a quarter). The bleeding lasted two days then went to spotting, then completely stopped on Monday. They did an HCG quant on Monday and I was just told me results are 2. Anything less than 5 is not pregnant. The nurse seemed baffled that I wasn't bleeding or cramping. She is consulting with the doctor as what to do.

Does anyone have any clues as to what might be done? Will they make me wait or do a D/C?

Re: Don't know what to expect!

Blue eyed girl… I am so so sorry. I miscarried at 9 weeks back in September. I am just now starting to come around and get back on the TTC board. I know when I started getting back on a couple weeks ago, you were leaving to move on to the pregnancy board. I am really just so sorry. Just one of those things so I’ve come to realize.

Well, I’m not sure exactly how far along you are but you have the option to miscarry naturally or have a d&c. It’s really a personal decision for what you feel is best for you. Your doctor won’t and shouldn’t make you do one or the other. Personally, I chose to have a d&c. I just wanted to get it over with and begin to heal and move on rather than waiting. Who knows how long you have to wait for it to start. I also didn’t want to go through the pain of passing everything and I was really just terrified of what I would see so I had the d&c and it was painless. They tell you to wait 1 cycle before ttc again and your period generally is SUPPOSE to come 4-6 weeks after the procedure but everyone heals differently. With your hcg levels already being a 2, it seems to be that you would have a quick recovery. It took 6 weeks for my hcg levels to FINALLY go back down. I don’t have any personal feedback on miscarrying naturally. But many women choose to do that for emotional reasons and I’ve heard that recovery is easier. It’s really just up to you.

Again, I’m so sorry that this has happened. I know it doesn’t make you feel better to hear that but know that others have gone through the same thing and you can always find support here. The hardest part for me was going back and telling everyone that we miscarried. DH opened his big mouth the day after we found out we were pregnant…ugh…but I know he was excited and I was excited too. Keep us posted and goodluck to you!

Re: Don't know what to expect!

Thanks. The bleeding started last Thursay. I was 5 weeks and 5 days according to my LMP. That puts me at 6 weeks and 4 days today. Its like I am floating along in a dream. I almost feel numb. I haven't had an emotional breakdown, but I think it will hit when I get the dr's suggestions.

I will see you in the TTC board soon. Hopefull you will be back on the pregnancy board before I get to the TTC board, though.

Re: Don't know what to expect!

I got to thinking and hit the net for research. Most things I have read about say that women still have hcg in their system and it takes some time for it to fall below 5. I couldn't find anything on a 2 (other than less than 5 is not pregnant). I took a test on Friday Novemember 2nd. That means my hcg was atleast 25 since that is the most sensitive a hpt will track. I got another positive at the doctor's office on Nov 8th, which is the day I started bleeding. I don't understand how it could drop to nonpregnant status from Thursday to Monday. Also, the nurse has yet to call me back. I am tired of waiting on this. My breakdown is going to be more out of anger than sorrow. If I should be grieving and deciding on how to handle this, then that is what I would like to do. I would like to get some closure and move on.

Unhappy Re: Don't know what to expect!

hello everyone. i am sorry for all of u all's losses. i can understand how u guys must be feeling.well i miscarried in october. i decided to go with d&c as well. i will not say it wont be painless, i just had lil pain after i came to after the procedure, and threw up a lil bit cause of anesthesia. personally i think i took the better way, cause everywhere i read it said miscarriying naturally can be painful, so i chose d&c instead, but my doctor did say the choice was mine.

i wanted to know if anyone has already have had their first period after miscarriage. i wanted to know how much u bleed and how many days it lasts. i got mine on monday night, i didnt bleed a lot, and no cramps, but i knew it was my period. but i stopped tuesday night, and then today(thursday15th nov) i started again no cramping but i was bleeding alot. i dont feel dizzy or like i dont have energy. i feel fine but its a lot of bleeding, i've been through 2 + pads already.

just wanted to get some insight from anyone who has gone through this. plz help.....
