I found out that I was pregnant for the first time was in January '06. Around February 3 I started spotting then February 7th I was in the emergency room, with severe pain and bleeding. The ER was a bad experience, sat in the lobby for hours then was put in a room to just writhe in pain. I had waited so long actully left the hospital and came home (30 mins away). But went back due to the extreme pain and slipped right back into the room unnoticed. I was there almost all day. A friend had came and they were looking for me. She dragged a nurse in, to give me some pain meds. Discharge instructions were to see my OB. She did a pap and results showed no pregnancy and unnoticable fibroid. But it was still there! Fibroids mostly cause little or no problems when they are small. So I forgot about the fibroid because I had no symptoms.
Fast forward March 08, we are pregnant again!!! I start the prenatal vitamins, and have an OB appt. Dr says i can see a sac but cant see it well because you have a large fibroid about the size of a babys head in the uterus. So I went for a special ultrasound and there was no heartbeat.
Also the tech found a second fibroid (smaller than the first)
My OB sat with me and told me he was sorry about there being no heart beat and because fo the fibroid I had a missed miscarriage. I would need a D & C and to have the fibroids removed. He told me if I were his daughter or wife he would prefer her have them both done at the same time. Which I did.
Because we (my family and husbands family included) I wanted to be sure that there was indeed no heartbead, so I had another specialist check. (he found a 3rd fibroid much smaller)
June 3rd I had both the D & C done and the fibroids removed. Was in the hospital from Tues to Friday.
It's now July 2nd. I haven't started my period yet... and am wondering about how long it will be before it starts? Any ideas?
I have numbness from the incision and mild pain from time to time. But it pales to the comparison of the pain in my heart. Though I do take comfort in knowing they are in good hands for Jesus watches over them.
