16 week miscarriage

If you miscarry at week 16, is a dnc done or do you have to deliver the fetus. I know someone who said that they waited for the baby to pass. That doesn't sound right. Also, if you miscarry at 16 weeks do you get a death certificate?

Re: 16 week miscarriage

The hospital did give me a certificate of birth for the baby. It was a keepsake from the hospital, not a "real" birth certificate like mine. Our baby was cremated at the hospital's expense, though I have no evidence of this. You are free to make your own funeral arrangements, but you would have to pay for them. Sometimes local funeral homes offer cremation for free, under their own criteria. One hospital where I live offered this service for free if the baby dies in utero/did not take a breath outside of the womb.
