Losing baby at 19 weeks

Have just found out my baby has died at 19 weeks. Am just taking some time out to come to terms with things before I go through delivering, and they've told me the options of what happens afterwoods....and one thing they said they do is give you foot/hand prints of the baby....I don't know if I want that, but don't want to regret it later on not having it. So...just wondering from other peoples experiences...what does it look like? like are the handprints really small? I don't know what to expect....

Re: Losing baby at 19 weeks

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost a 36 week old son in 2005 . From my opinion, I would get the handprints but if you are not comfortable looking at them, have them sealed in an envelope and just put them somewhere special. You can decide later on- when you are feeling more distance and time has passed- if you want to view them or not. If not, you can always have them as a tangible item for an anniverary memorial to bury and plant a garden, or something like that. Hang in there-

I'm so sorry for what's going on. If I were you, I would get the hand/footprints done and take them home with you. Like the other poster said, you don't have to look at them until you're ready. But I think if you don't take them home with you, down the line you'll regret it. At least you'll have something of the baby. Good luck.
