Angry Mononucleosis

Here I am 54 and just diagnosed with mono, after 3 1/2 months of feeling bad. Has anyone had it that can tell me if they had blood sugar problems with it? Mine goes so low that I get really sweaty feeling with hot flashes and can hardly put one foot in front of the other. Also my hands get really shaky and I feel shaky and scared like inside. Also, the depression with this is terrible. It's not like I can just lie down and let my mother take care of me like the teenagers who usually get this do. All my glands are so messed up that I hate to try to take anything for the depression. I tried Paxil when I wasn't sick and had a terrible reaction to it. (Had all the rare symptoms listed on the insert). And prozac worked, but made my throat feel like it had a lump in it. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks, Donna

Mono can be caused by different viruses such as CMV and Epstein-Barr. Most people recover after a few weeks. And, while there aren't any specific meds for mono, you do have to be careful of contracting any opportunistic infections. Here's some detailed information:

Jay, Thanks for the information on mono. Went to my Dr. today and he says 4 weeks bed rest. What worries me is that I've already been exhausted for 3 1/2 months. So I'm wondering how long I've really had this stuff. Pretty hard to just do nothing when you have a big garden almost ready to harvest, 2 dogs, a husband and a farm. Keep thinking I'll wake up and this will be a bad dream! Thanks again. That was a really good site. Donna
