Husband's Dr Appt

My husband had his appt with the Neurologist the other day. He looked over the MRI results and it looks like it is indeed MS. He took blood to run tests for other things to rule them out, but the Dr said he is about 90% sure that it is MS. 3 1/2 years ago he said he was 60% sure. He also said that since my husband has only had 2 flare ups in almost 4 years that he will do really well on the meds. I am doing much better with the idea of this life change, He is having a bit tougher time, which is understandable. He said that he doesn't have time to really think about it right now. He has been working 2 jobs and we are building a house. I realize now that we are going to have to rearrange the working schedule. I am trying to talk him into coming on to this board and get to know you all, since you are all so nice and uplifting. Hopefully he will agree to join. Thanks for all of your support. I really feel like I can accept this with my head held high and look forward to what the future holds for us. Thanks again everyone!!! I will keep you posted if anything changes.

Rachel

Re: Husband's Dr Appt

Hi, Rachel. I'm sorry to hear that your husband more than likely has MS, but you sound like you have a great attitude, and that is very important. Family and friends who give support is extremely important to the one diagnosed. I know my husband has been wonderful since my dx last year. Thank God he is also brave enough to give me my injections every night, I am very fortunate. Anyway, your husband is going to be going through a lot of emotions now, and just being there for him will help tremendously.

MS isn't a death sentence, and your husband should go on with his life as normal as possible. I hope he plans on starting treatment ASAP, it's very important in slowing down the progression of the disease itself, and helps prevent flare-ups from happening as often. I started Copaxone a few months after my dx, and so far no problems.

Best of luck to you and your husband! Take care and God bless.

Re: Husband's Dr Appt

Rachel ~ I am sorry about your husband....you are being a wonderful, supportive partner to him. This is not an easy road to travel for either of you, and there are a lot of decisions to be made and paths to consider.

I also believe that choosing one of the CRABs is an important way to help slow down the progression of MS, even if the chances are only 30% that it will help. But each person has to make their own decision about it. I hope your husband will find the answers he is looking for.

Re: Husband's Dr Appt

Sorry I assumed too much.....I forget sometimes!!

CRABs are the initials that refer to the MS drugs........C = Copaxone, R = Rebif, A = Avonex, and B = Betaseron.
