Question Which drug?

Hello everyone. I was diagnosed with MS in 1998. I have been in denial until now. Two weeks ago I had an exacerbation that affected my left side. I am still recovering and it's a slow scary process. I have a follow up appointment with my neuro today. I avoided drug therapy because of wanting more children and denial. Well, I am over those issues and plan to talk about the available drugs.

For those of you on meds...how do you know what's right? Just hoping to get another opinion from someone who is living it. Thanks and GOD Bless!

P

Re: Which drug?

Honestly, at least as far as ABCR drugs go, I don't think there's a wrong choice. I'm personally on Rebif because TO ME it seemed the most aggressive. I looked in depth at all the websites (those for the drugs and message boards like this) and I came to that conclusion.

My neuro said (approximately) that I could do whichever seemed the best to me, although he did steer me away from Copaxone because (in his opinion) it took the longest to work (again stressing aggressive).

I also did an in-home solumedrol drip & a prednison taper to speed up recovery from my last flare. It helped a lot, especially with my eyes & legs.

I find Rebif very easy to tolerate & the injection schedule is not too bad. And luckily my insurance covers it, so my copay is only $100/3 months. Thank God for that.

The only other thing I'll say is I'm pretty new to this, so someone who has been dealing with this longer might have a different opinion.
Josh

Re: Which drug?

I am on Betaseron and am doing well. I have been on it since Oct 2003. I am 47 and past the age of wanting more children. I do however understand that the Copazine (spelling) you can be on it and still have children. Ask you doc about it. A friend of mine is on it and doing fine and is trying to get pregnant.
