I had the spinal tap yesterday as most of you know, and I never knew it was going to make me extremely dizzy and tired. I have slept 16 hours straight, only got up to tinkle,,,,Im still kinda nauseated and dizzy, but its done. Now I wait for results. That doctor told me that 8 spots on the brain is possible MS, and 9 spots is a definate MS. I coulf feel the needle go into my spine, and when it pinched the spinal cord if felt like an instant MAJOR PERIOD CRAMP. It hurt. Anyway, maybe some of you have had that same experience on the tap. The waiting is all that is left now. They took three viles of fluid from spine, and 11 tubes of blood,....Hugs & More Hugs to all of you!!! xoxoxoxoxo
Hang in there when the fuild level comes backup, which shouldn't take long maybe the dizziness with go away. With the eight leisons I'm sorry to say join the club. The sleeping for 16 hours is the fatigue. It's hard with us ms'ers to think of our body as a bank of energy and when it's low we crash. Mental and physical stress it doesn't matter. It all wares us out. The spinal tooks it's tole on you. Mine never hurt. They took four viles from me. Yours was done under the x-ray machine right? Hang in there!!!!!!!!!!xoxoxoxo
Yes, mine was done under Xray,,,I thought it was because of my cages, but it wasn't. The spine isnt' that far down.. Anyway, I had no idea it was going to wipe me out like that. I'm still a little dizzy, and I was really nauseated earlier. I am really fatigued..all the time..but that was some pretty hard sleeping for that long. I woke up feeling good...but its getting late, and the tired is coming back. My honey, is in denial I think,,,frick, he is trying to send me to a town that is a 4 hour drive, by myself, for training..and I just don't have the up and go anymore. He just won't let me deal with this. Its probably a good thing that he pushes me,,,but my engine has some burnt out spark plugs if you know what I mean... I am anticipating the test results now..oh joy xoxoxoxoxo
Just try and get as much rest as possible and find a liquid vitamin that you can take, it might help. There's something , I can't remember about ms and solid vitumin the that our body has a hard time with. Right now I'm desolving my centrum vituminas to get rid of them and then I 'm going on a liquid one. Check in the area for a ms support group they can be very helpful with some info.........Good-luck .....thinking about you
I am sorry to hear that you had a difficult time with the spinal tap. Had mine 2 weeks ago. They told me that 48 hours prior to the procedure that I was to drink alot of caffeine products. So I drank tons of coffee, and high caffeinated pop. I went through the procedure fine. Came home and layed down immediately. I really felt better in an upright position but I decided to listen to their instructions. I really felt great. Maybe try drinking something with caffeine now and make certain that you are not dehydrating. AFter, I also made certain that I drank alot of water. I think this is probably why I took it well.
I was diagnosed with MS after the spinal tap. The MD was taken back as upon looking at my past two MRI's she felt that there was nothing significant. Now saying there must be lesions on the spinal cord of neck and back. There are no signficant lesions of my brain but they are sending me to another specialist for best methods of treatment, as I have had double vision for six years, neck pain, and recently developed neck and back burning and tingling of arms legs, feet abdomen.
You guys are awesome, my hon has decided to go for me, for I am just not sure I can do it. My mouth gets so dry at night, and I know the neurontin can do that, but my bottom lip has all but become disfigured with dryness. Arg...I have been drinking a lot of Diet Coke, and I love coffee, I drink a hole pot by myself every morning. I am contimplating - quitting work, and going on SS. I also have my back injury that Im not sure how to deal with workmans comp, for the past 5 months they have been trying to buy me out, and I have just ignored them. If this is a definate dx of MS, then I don't know if I should ignore their offers. I need to talk to my attorney friend. Anyway, thanks you guys,,,,you guys are awesome. I don't know,,,this is all scary and confusing for me. I have a hard time thinking anymore. I will surely let you all know what I hear on my tests...Thanks a bunch you guys! You are great chums..thanks
I had a spinal tap. and had to go to the er for a blood patch. I agree that it did hurt. I was on my back in bed for 4 days, mainly because i had to be careful and not cause the blood patch to break loose. I coul dnot stand or even pick my head up, because of the spinal headache and dizziness. After the the fluid level came back up i was fine. It took about 3 days for me to feel better. THe fourth day was only due to the soreness in my lower back from the blood patch. Hope you are better.
Hi Roomies!!!
Sorry to hear about your ST experience Tattoo. WOW>..Yes, I didn't feel good for a couple days myself. Im still waiting for my results. Trying to be a good patient and be patient. Arg! I'm still hangin around in here. You didnt' mention Tattoo if you had MS or not. Do you have MS? Did the SP come out positive for it? oxoxxoox
I too, had a spinal headache when I had my LP last week. The spinal headache was far, far worse than the LP itself. I ended up going in 3 days later to have a blood patch. I didn't feel back to normal for 3 days. My back was really tight and sore, and I couldn't pick up my preschooler b/c they had warned me that straining could cause the patch to come loose. My spinal tap came back abnormal. It showed 2 oligoclonal bands and an elevated level of antibodies in the CSF. My LP supported an MS dx, but since my last MRI showed 1 lesion, I am not officially dx.
