I get this problem too. I just try to stretch as much as possible. I've been told that Yoga can help you maintain your flexibility.
One of my favorite stretches to do for my extremely tight, cramping legs is one that a physical therapist showed m. She told me to sit on the bed and put one leg at a time on the mattress, completely flat Keep your leg straight (don't bend your knee at all) and grab your toes and make them point up as straight as possible. You will really feel it in your calf and thigh muscles. Then turn around and do the other leg. Hold for 15 - 30 seconds. My legs feel much better and a lot more loose after I do this. I do it 3 or 4 times a day for each leg. (sometimes two or three times in a row tom get my legs really loose) I've got to learn some good stretches for my back and arms though. Anybody know any?
