Uhthoff's Syndrome and Optic Neuritis
Just need some advise on these two things. My neuro-opthamologist said i had optic neuritis a few months ago, but that there was no treatment for it other than time. my sight is not that bad, all things considered, but EVERY TIME I get up and walk somewhere, it goes blurry. Sometimes it even happens when I'm sitting at my desk here at work, like anybody.
I have done some internet research and this blurriness seems to be called Uhthoff's syndrome. Something about a worsening of MS symptoms and optic neuritis with a raising of the body temperature, that goes away once your temperature has settled down.
but the strangest thing is that when i am out at night with friends, or more often just in the company of others, it does not seem to happen as much, or as quickly, or perhaps i just dont notice it, but i dont think thats it.
Now, I do not know if I have MS, i have a lot of stupid minor little symptoms like, at the moment, the left side of my face has been slightly numb for a few days. this has happened before and gone away. I think I have had a few other symptoms of MS or something like it, but as my MRI is in a few weeks, I wont know for a while (if even then!).
My question is: does this blurry vision or Uhthoff's upon walking EVER go away? Is it purely an "episodal" sign? will it be like this for the rest of my life, or only until the neuritis goes away?
I know that this symptom is a big indicator of MS so I am trying to stay calm and reasonable when thinking about it.
any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much.
