| Why should I have more tests???
I'm so frustrated with my neuro's Physician's Assistant. She has only been working for him for about 4 months and while I do like her, I think she is ordering tests that are no necessary and that I can't afford. I've had symptoms since 1996, started after a very bad car accident. At first I thought I just wasn't bouncing back to the healthy, active person I was because of the accidident. Then I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia by my PCP and treated for that for years. I just kept getting worse and after much urging by my husband and best friend went to my first neuro that told me I was just depressed, so I never went to see her again. Then I found the neuro that I see now, I really like him and respect him a lot, he is the one that diagnosed MS after being the first doctor to order MRI w/ and w/o contrast, Lumbar puncture, etc. a little over a year ago. I take daily injections of Copaxone and for the most part, and for the most part I think I'm doing as well as could be expected. So, about a month ago when I went in for a regular visit, I had another MRI because it had been a year since the last one. There were several new lesions on my brain since the previous MRI, nothing new in the spinal cord. Now the PA has told me that she wants me to have an EP test and some other MRI, she didn't explain it, just "an MRI that is a bit different". OK, so now I'm wondering why??? And after getting the bill for the last MRI, I have a co-pay of over $400, my co-pay every month for my Copaxone is $146, not to mention the other meds like the Neurontin, Baclofen, anti-depressants, etc., that cost me about $100 a month in co-pays, I just can't afford to incur any more medical debt for tests that I don't see a need for! Am I being silly? Is there anyone else out there that has had to have these additional tests after already having a dx? Thanks for listening.
