Nerve conduction study for MS???? - Multiple Sclerosis Message Board

I was just wondering if anyone has had a nerve conduction study to help diagnose MS? I have some MS symptoms, but also have a lumbar spine issue which has caused some of my symptoms, but some syptoms are new and the more I've read about MS, I see alot of the symptoms in me over time. I have seen two neurologists who have been trying to treat me for my spine issue, but one neuro mentioned that some of my symptoms didn't go along with the spine problem and has ordered a nerve conduction study and bladder studies? Is this normal procedure to rule out or diagnose MS?

Hi,
I've heard that the nerve conduction study isn't the best test for MS. Primarily because that test checks peripheral nerve conduction. In MS the problems are in the central nervous system.

The best tests for MS are MRIs with and without contrast (and not just brain ones, but at least part of the spine, too) and a lumbar puncture.

Hope you figure out what's wrong.
