normal MRI?

I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who had normal MRI's to begin with.
I'm starting to think I'm crazy, as all my symptoms point to MS, but everything comes back normal. I just had my second MRI, had a normal LP, and my neuro says he does not think my problem is neurological. It's not that I don't believe him, it's just that no one else can seem to think of another answer to my problems.
I started having tingling in my left leg 4 years ago, while pg with my first. It went away, and I forgot about it until pg with my second. It didn't go away after he was born, and slowly seemed to get worse.
I went to see my dr when my left arm started tingling and going numb. I had also started to become extremely fatigued, dizzy, and having cognitive difficulties at this time
I've always had a problem with headaches, and have had a few episodes where my eyes were funny. I'd go a couple days of blurry vision, and pain in the eyes. They would feel like they were swollen 5 times larger.
I've had a normal MRI and LP, been for numerous blood tests, and had ENG studies which were normal.
I'm just tired and frustrated, and want a plan. I don't care what they find, I just want to know what's up!
Should I give up on the MS route? What else do I do?

Re: normal MRI?

I'm in the same boat with you. All my tests are normal.
MRI, EEG, VEP, EMG, blood tests, aortagram, venous doppler, bone scan.
I have seen several neuro's and have an appt with a new one next month. My last neuro did say that my problem was neurological but was not willing to dx me with anything other than possible demyelinating disease. She also told me to go see another neuro.

My suggestion to you would be to see another neuro. I don't know how many you've seen so far but another opinion can never hurt. As I said, I have seen several -- a whole team while hospitalized plus two others. I have also seen several different vascular doctors this was important in my case because it ruled out vascular problems.

You just need to keep searching. I'm not sure how your insurance works, mine will cover any specialist visits as long as I am refered by my primary. My primary is awesome and will send me to any doctor I choose as long as they are within my insurance group. I think a good primary is the first step to successful dx.

Hang in there and keep on keeping on. Dawn

Re: normal MRI?

Thanks Dawn! It's good to know that there are others out there in the same boat. I haven't talked to this neurologist yet since the last MRI, but my first told me there was no way it could be anything neurological. He said it's impossible with all normal tests, and to see a psychologist. I've been thinking lately maybe I am going crazy
I am lucky in a way, I'm in Canada, so don't have to worry about insurance, coverage, etc. I can ask to be reffered to pretty much anyone I want. The down side is it takes soo long to get appt.s and tests. Each new test is booked months in advance, so it's very slow going.

I'll just keep at it, and maybe will ask to see another neuro. I've been to rheumatology too, but that's about it. I think I'm going to start to really bug my gp to get things moving, I'm tired of this.

Re: normal MRI?

Hello,

I have also had normal MRI. My lumbar puncture however came back showing inflamation. My neuro says it is probable MS. He is hesitant to dx me. He did give me the number last friday when I was in to see him for my weird eyesight problems, to a MS specialist just incase I had any problems while he was gone out of town for a month. I think that some neuro's are very hesitant to call it MS before they have enough clinical evidence. He told me to be patient, which is hard to do when you have unexplainable stuff going on. I am on prednisone now. It seems to be helping me with my allergies, not any of my other symptoms. Hang in there.

Dixie
