plaque-like lesions - Multiple Sclerosis Message Board

It was probably 10 years ago I had many ms symptoms (numbness, tingling, headaches, etc.) and had an MRI showing "a spot on the frontal lobe" of my brain.

Life got busy, symptoms came and went, I had four kids...lalalala...

Now, with other symptoms coming and going I had another MRI and have been referred to an Neuololgist. Appt. next week.

Here is my question:

The nurse read the MRI report which stated that there were "plaque-like lesions" which needed to be looked into. Soooo...is "plaque-like" a good thing? Does that mean that they are INactive and probably from the deal so many years ago? If I had MS would they be plain old "lesions"? (NOT plaque-like)

Can I call you Penny? Anyway, in doing research on the web, I've found MS lesions referred to as "MS plaques". They seem to be interchangeable terms. A neurologist is the best next step. I've learned that, while MRI is a key in diagnosis, it is not conclusive in most cases. Brains are tough to figure out. Stay optimistic, and keep your appointments!
