Question Avonex and bleeding (?)

Hi all,
I started avonex 3rd shot today, and i went for my blood work 4 days after 2nd shot, cbc and liver enzymes
all was good, when i was leaving to go to the car (4 blocks away) i felt a wet coolness feeling at the blood draw site, i looked and the guaze was saturated in blood along with some skin around the guaze area, all in all it clotted quickly, when i got to the car it was no longer bleeding (ps, i had a lot of blood work and this Never happened)

any ideas? anyone same/similar experience? and if so what was the result??
i had to call the neuro for an appt so i mentioned it to the receptionist, i would think they would have called my by now if the blood work was off........
thanks
wishing all well

Hi thnkpos,
You probably went thru a small vein or something. I have had weeks when it would bleed and bleed and other times when there would be hardly a drop.

Re: Avonex and bleeding (?)

I think what is being said is that thnkpos has had 3 shots of Avonex. Went for blood work after the 2nd shot, and the site in which the blood was taken was were the bleeding was coming from, not the injection site of the shot.

I haven't had this problem, but it is definately worth asking about. Glad you got it to clot though. I would call my doctor back tomorrow and talk to the nurse. Let us know what they say.

Re: Avonex and bleeding (?)

I would specifically ask if the Avonex makes your blood thinner. I have added that to my oh so long list of questions for my next visit. Good luck!!
