MS and Joint pain??? - Multiple Sclerosis Message Board

Hello. I hope everyone is feeling good today.

I am currently in limbo like many others. I have a question I thought someone might be able to help me with. I was dx probable MS several years ago. I only had one treatment of IV solumedrol which did make me feel better. Here is my question though..everytime I am in a flare I also have joint pain. Especially in right knee and hip. I know it's connected somehow because it only happens when I flare.

This is not a common symptom of MS is it? I have had many tests for lupus which all show negative. I had Lyme testing done through igenex labs...some positive bands and some negative.

Has anyone heard of such joint problems with MS. I have alot of other neurological problems too but this one confuses me a bit.

I have another MRI this afternoon so I guess I will see what that shows. My previous ones over the last 9 years have shown no lesions.

Your opionins would really be appreciated. Thanks alot.

Hi Deb....I hope you get lots ofreplies. I have the same problem, a recent development. I was dx'd w/MS in January 2004. I read that MSers can easily develop other autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis. I don't know if this is the case - at least with me -and I have not yet made an app't to check it out.

During my episodes I also have joint pain just in my right knee and right wrist. I too have had numerous blood test done and go back for another MRI next Friday. Neuro also wants to do LP depending on results. Good luck Deb!

Thanks kellid and lah. I had my MRI this afternoon. It was supposed to be of my head and spine but someone screwed up the paperwork and only my head was done. Then I find out my appt. with my new neuro isn't until the end of October.

I had my rheumotoid factor checked and that always comes back okay. We are still tossing around the idea of Lyme disease too. I am just so so frustrated.

Lah..are you dx'd or are you hanging in limbo with me too?

i was dxed with RRMS on 9/11 2001 and i have horrible joint pain,, it's really unbearable at times and i cry myself to sleep,,, percocet helps if we have to do family outings and i don;t want to cry in public. it's pretty bad right now,,, but trying to stay awake, till 11
