Injecting...

I know this is bad... but I only inject in one area: my stomach. I was being good and trying out all the spots at first, but they hurt compared to the stomach. Also, I stopped using the auto inject, and just do it manually. I get a little redness at the injection site, but thats it for side effects. Can someone enlighten me on how bad it may be to not use more than one spot? Anything I should be looking out for? I would rather just stick to using my stomach every other day (Betaseron), but if something serious could happen, I will certaintly use other spots. Thanks for your help

i am the same way,,, i usually do it in my stomach it doesn;t bother me as much when i do it there,, about 3 times a month i switch and do the hips,, i just feel my stomach first and make sure if i have a hard spot i go away from it to shoot again.

Re: Injecting...

I'm on copaxone, which is a little different... but I think the reasoning behind switching up sites is because when the medication disperses, it can damage the tissue. Since beta is an IM, I don't know what damage it does. But copaxone will destroy the tissue under the skin if you inject in the same spot too often. Eventually, you lose that as an injection site all together.

I know what you mean though - I love injecting in my tummy and hips - arms and legs get SO sore.

Re: Injecting...

i am on betaseron and it's not IM it only goes in under the skin my needles is as big as my copaxone needle was and i was on that for a yr and 6 months. i took almost all of my copaxone ones in my stomach,, those ones i could put it below the belly button and so forth and the betaseron ones we are only supposed to put in on the sides of our bellybutton.

Re: Injecting...

yes, Betaseron is SC, not IM. But I appreciate all the input and I think I will keep doing the stomach... and might try the hip area. I used to get depo provera (birth control) on my back side and that was painless. I tried using that area for the Beta and it was an awkward position... I ended up hitting the auto inject and jumping... Betaseron went everywhere. But... I will try again! Thanks everyone
