MS treatment cure in future? - Multiple Sclerosis Message Board

hey, so i was posting this to find out if anyone knows, or has heard, through the scientific community or other studies that in the next 20 years, there will be significant progress in ways to treat or stop MS, or even cure it. if anybody has any information on this i would very much like to hear it. hopefully there is, cuz 20 years is a long time..

I haven't heard anything specific like this other than the usual song and dance about there being a "cure" in the near future. Personally, I don't hold onto the idea with much hope. I must deal with today aand my time and energy is spent thusly. I can't live for 20 years from now. Until they understand how people develop MS (like so many cancers or HIV etc. that they weren't able to effectively treat until they understood how the diseases developed) there isn't much hope for a cure or a very effective treatment.

AMEN to that sunshine!! That last sentence holds SO much truth!! Sadly, you are right on, in my humble opinion.

I was diagnosed almost 20 years ago and every year I have heard a cure is 5 years away. I believe I heard this a few months ago again, I am not holding much hope and I am an extremely positive upbeat person.

that's rediculous that they cant' figure that out.. i mean really, they need to get on the damn ball. but hey, if u look at it from the perspective of what they've found out about MS in the past decade, as far as drugs that help with the symptoms, then maybe over the next 10 or 20 years there will be yet again a jump in treatment or the understanding of the disease.. i mean they're bound to find out something.. christ.
