Ms???

Thank you for your time to read this, as I am searching for answers to my strange symptoms. I will start from the beginning.

Two years ago I went to the eye doctor for blurred vision, lasting only about a minute at a time. Not always every day. My eye tests came back 20/20, told me they found nothing wrong, maybe my eyes were just "strained". I also began having a numbing, uncomfortable feeling in an arm, or leg... which would last several hours. My family doctor said he wanted to rule out MS, and sent me for an MRI which showed no lesions.
I decided to ignore the symptoms, since he could find nothing wrong.
Recenty I have had the blurred vision back again lasting the same amount of time. I have the same numbing feelings that occur either in an arm or leg... the only different thing is I now have had what feels like twitches or spasms in a certain muscle for no more than a couple of minutes at a time. Usually in my sole of the foot, leg, or side of my abdomen. Again my family doctor sent me for an MRI, which came back showing no lesions. All my lab work has come back normal with no vitamin deficiencies.
I also have had trouble urinating, often times after I go to the bathroom, several minutes later I have dribbling.
Does anyone have these symptoms? I am upset because I feel as though everyone thinks I am crazy, and wonder if this is familiar to anyone or seems like MS, since that is what is continuously brought up.

Thank you for your time.
Looking for answers,
Grace

Re: Ms???

Grace, it can be very difficult to get a diagnosis for the symptoms you are having. Yes, it sounds like MS is one of several possibilities. Were your MRIs done with and without contrast? Did they only do brain MRIs?

Re: Ms???

As MS is an incurable condition it isn't a diagnosis anyone would welcome but if you look at directms.org which has been mentioned by a previous helpful poster you will see a list of essential supplements which the scientific research suggest MAY be helpful for those with MS.

The point of mentioning this list to you is that these essential supplements are also useful for many other conditions which may also give rise to your symptoms.

It isn't a waste of time or money ensuring your Vitamin d levels are as good now as in the summer, or ensuring your omega, calcium and magnesium levels are also at the optimum.

Taking these supplements won't and cannot do you any harm. Hopefully you won't have an MS diagnosis but should eventually this come to be, at least in the meantime, you will have acted in such a way to ensure the progress of this progressive condition is as slow as possible.

Omega is helpful for the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease Asthma Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) Bipolar disorder Cancer Cardiovascular disease Depression Diabetes Eczema High blood pressure Huntington's disease Lupus Migraine headaches Multiple sclerosis Obesity Osteoarthritis Osteoporosis Psoriasis Rheumatoid arthritis.

Vitamin D is involved in Cancer Depression Mental Illness Diabetes Heart Disease Hypertension Obesity Multiple Sclerosis Osteoarthritis Muscle Weakness and Falls Chronic Pain VDDS

Calcium may play a role in the prevention and/or treatment of Cataracts Colon cancer High blood pressure Inflammatory bowel disease Kidney stones Osteoporosis Polycystic ovarian syndrome Pregnancy induced hypertension and preeclampsia Premenstrual syndrome

Magnesium plays a function in Alcoholism Angina pectoris Arrhythmia Asthma
Autism Chronic fatigue Congenital heart disease Congestive heart failure Coronary artery disease Diabetes Eclampsia Epilepsy Glaucoma Heart attack HIV/AIDS Hypertension Hypertriglyceridemia Inflammatory bowel disease
Migraine Multiple sclerosis Osteoporosis Peptic ulcers PMS Pre-eclampsia Raynaud's syndrome Systemic lupus erythematosus

Re: Ms???

Yes you are describing my journey of everyone including the Dr's thinking I was going crazy....vision, leg pain including tingling and cramps I was so hard to diagnose and they finally put me trrough a spinal and said I had tendencies...so keep persuning it, seek out your states best neuro and get an answer. I accepted it the dxd of ms, educated myself and now live with it. It was a relief to know what was wrong. I am ok and and want you to persue til you get an answer....good luck. Oh yes the first thing they put me on when they confirmed MS was the omega 3s....

Thanks

Thank you for your posts.
....deleted....I will be done with school in May and am trying to wait until then to see a neurologist there. In May my insurance will cover a visit to this particular doctor.
The MRI a couple of years ago had contrast and showed no lesions. The MRI a couple of weeks ago was without contrast. These were both just brain MRI's but am I reading correctly that you can have lesions on your spinal cord?

I have had a full workup on all my levels, Ca, B12, Mag, etc. and all came back within normal limits. I have also just been sent to an endocrinologist due to a nodule of my thyroid, which he assured was not causing my problems and that I should see a neurologist??
