Question Anyone using Provigil???

My neuro prescribed Provigil to try and help with fatigue. He says there has been some success for people with MS. Just started taking it today and curious if any of you had used it or discussed it with your Drs. Fatigue is definitely me biggest consistent sypmtom. Provigil is for narcolepsy so heres hoping it can help me stay up past 9 pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Watching the 10 news would be nice! Merry Christams all. Any input is greatly appreciated. Lucybelle

Re: Anyone using Provigil???

Hi Lucybelle

I am taking Provigil. While not perfect it definitely does help with fatigue. I guess the best thing you can say is that it "gives me a lift".
I frequently take it around noon to make sure its effect lasts all day. Hope this helps.

Re: Anyone using Provigil???

Hi Lucybelle,
When taking Provigil, I do feel more able to focus although I don't feel a whole lot more energetic.

I don't take it on a regular basis, much to my PCP's dismay.

I take a sleeping pill and an anti-depressant every night to get and stay asleep. Before relying on aritficial mean to keep me awake, and make me fall asleep, I'd rather just make sure I'm getting that good healing sleep that I'm missing.

Sorry, as you might have noticed, I'm having issues with all the meds I have to take on a regular basis.

Anyway, if it works for you, go for it. Only you know how your body responds to medications.

Lisa

Re: Anyone using Provigil???

Thanks for the input. I am on day three and not real sure if I will continue. I feel tense and edgy and I still fall asleep at 9 and wake up about 2 with a hard time geting back to sleep. Thanks again! Merry Christmas Lucybelle

Re: Anyone using Provigil???

Lucy, that's exactly why I'm on the sleeping pill. I take the anit-depressant because I can't turn off my mind at night.

Are you taking the two 100mg dosages. From what I've read, that's "norm". If needed, maybe take less 2x/day, like 1/2 pill?

I read on the NMSS website that Provigil showed promise in alleving fatigue, but, then it also states that when tested against a placebo there was no difference in the findings.

So, to each his own. You'll just have to play with it a bit I suppose. And if it doesn't work for you, try something else.

Good Luck,
Lisa
