Is this how it is living w/MS?

It has been a year since I was dx'd, I have not had any relapses and I am thankful for that, I take Avonex.

The last 2 weeks have been very hard for me, I am tired, up at 8am nap at 11am, have little or no energy, can't get too much done at home.

Went out side last Friday to clean off my car of snow and fell,
twisted my left ankle and landed on my right knee and banged up my right arm, which is my numb arm, I couldn't get up, had to crawl over to the tire on my car just to have something to help me up, it was dark so none of my neighbors saw me, but it was embarrassing, and painful, on top of my funny walk, now my ankle and knee hurt. My mother told me to take my cell phone when I go outside to deal with the snow, so I will be able to call someone to help me
My cheeks are always red, so I am thinking that I have Roseaca, my vision is blurry, I have to go to a Opth on Tuesday, I guess I am just feeling yucky! and I want to know is this how it will be?

I had a partial hysterectomy so I don't get periods any more, but sometimes I get PMS feelings, and I have had them for the past week, so maybe that is the cause of my yucky ness? I know that there have been posts on that exact subject, about 12 years ago, I had some seizures, small dizzy spells that were worse during my period, maybe those spells were the beginning of MS?

All I know is that me and MS have been friends for this last year, and I am a little mad at my friend right now. Does anybody else have times when you just can't get going? If I ever wake up and jump out of bed with energy, I will know that I am dreaming

Maybe it is the holidays? I used to bake for days, and shop at the mall, and decorate, and now it is not much baking, on line shopping and little decorating, so maybe that is what is bugging me, that I can't do what I always could. I am usually the positive one, and I am still positive and thank God all the time for what he provides for me, but I am just a little yuckky right now Anybody else?

Re: Is this how it is living w/MS?

STephanianne, I have been really tired the last two weeks. Maybe to much Thanksgiving/family stuff and it's taking time to recover. Of course there is lots to do this time of year. Parties shopping etc and sometimes it is just way to much for those of us with lower energy level. It is very frustrating and I have cried to my sister a few times the past couple of weeks to get it out!!! I feel better and realize I have a reason to be tired. MS has a way of letting you know it is still around. I am sure that you will rebound and resume your prior relationship with your friend if you just appease her and rest!!! Merry Christmas to you Lucybelle

Re: Is this how it is living w/MS?

yes, that is how i feel, or felt i should say,, i started taking some vitamins and that has helped a great deal,, i take vitamin B12, selenium, potassium, cod liver oil with vitamin A and D, vitamin C, Vitamin D and viactiv which is calcium chews. i have not been as tired and have only had 2 naps in the past 6 months,,, one was about a month ago,, and the other one was this past saturday,,, somedays my pain is just so bad,, i take a pain pill and lay down with the heating pad and fell asleep for a couple of hours. i went to an opthoneuro and she could not help me,, just told me to wear an eye patch over my good eye to try and strengthen the bad eye that has the optic nerve damage,, glasses will not help cause my eye sight changes on a daily basis.
as for ur hysterectomy,,, my sister in law had a total one in 1994,, we were 24 yrs old,,, she had endometrosis,,, she still to this day has the PMS really bad, she is worse than me,, and i have MS and periods lol we joke about it alot. i have also found out that what i used to be able to do i can not do it anymore,,, i can't work anymore,, which blows cause i miss working so bad,,, but even when i couldn't work anymore,, i would get up in the mornings and clean the house have it spic and span for the day,, and i can;t do that anymore,,, thats what got me this past saturday,, i woke up at 7:30 am,, cleaned the house spic and span within 2 hours, laundry and all,,, and i was down and out, couldn;t hardly see,, couldn;t move,, and didn;t want to be bothered. i have to go on tho cause i have a hubby and a 16 yr old they help me out alot, thank god,, i am with ur mom,, take the cell phone with u outside,, just incase,, i hope ur injuries heal up soon! and let me know what ur eye dr says.

StephanieAnne,
I could really relate to what you're feeling. This is my first Christmas since being dx'd...has taken me 2 weekends to do what i used to do in afew hours..I can't help but feel a little envious when i see the other mothers doing so much for their families, but have decided to focus on having a special Christmas Eve dinner with my family. You are not alone with what you are feeling..thanks for letting me realize I'm not either!

Re: Is this how it is living w/MS?

Thank you so much. just hearing that other people are having problems makes me feel better ...... gosh how evil am I?
I didn't mean it that way, I ment that it make's me feel that I am not the only one who is feeling this way.

I woke up today and felt the best I had felt in 2 weeks, my ankle and knee and arm aren't so sore, I can walk somewhat normal, so I think tomorrow I am going back to the Y to exercise in the pool. And I also decided to put my big stand mixer back on it's shelf, that I was not going to bake anything else [On Monday, I made a fruitcake and messed that up] then I went to the local bakery and ordered a bunch of cookies, so that solved that problem
and I have decorated enough, and bought alot of gifts online, and now I am working on my homemade presents for my brother and sisters. I am not going to worry about what I can't do. I need to take care of me.

Natatude, I now take Zyflammed for inflamation, it is a herbal supplememt, I only take Motrin on shot night, it has been 2 weeks and I beleive that it is helping me, and I used to take Motrin every day, I also take Vit E, cod liver oil w/A & D, magnesium, CLA, CAlcium w/D and a daily vitamin, and I think that maybe I should add selenium, and potassium, I will have to ask my nutritionist about that, I agree w/the Vitamins helping, and it is so important that we add more good oils into our bodies.

Thanks for your support it really helps
Steph
